Interesting times....

Sitting here in front of my computer pondering about this day and the events that are happening around me. Well, except for the fact that I AM using a computer and blogging, I feel like I was back in 1986 during the first EDSA people power revolution. It's deja vu actually, like I've seen this before... damnit, I have. Crap! Has it been 20 years already? I have to look for the old pictures that I took when I went to the Malacanang Palace (out of curiosity) with a couple of friends a few days after that historic day. At 25 years old, I was then full of hopes and dreams for this country... should have known better than to trust politicians. 20 fucking years, and we're back on the street trying to unseat an unwanted and unpopular president... looks like we haven't really moved on since 86'. Malcontents in the military are starting to get creative again no thanks to that former coup plotter turned ex senator, and now this guy is in hiding after being implicated again in this latest coup attempt. Geez, they should've buried this bastard decades ago but instead, those stupid voters elected him to the senate. Whatever happened to the hopes and dreams of the people for this country after they kicked out a dictator and his family? Are we just recycling tyrants now? In a speech in Cape Town, South Africa, on June 7, 1966, Robert F. Kennedy said, "There is a Chinese curse which says, "May he live in interesting times." Like it or not, we live in interesting times..." Well, he could have been referring to this country because we sure are living in an interesting time, and the fact that this country seems to be cursed with stupid/corrupt politicians, petty tyrants, and equally stupid voters. We'll see what happens next.....
